I would recommend the Mossberg 590 in any form. I've shot thousands of rounds through some 590s. I'm not saying the JIC model sucks, because it doesn't. I've used the 590s in rain and dirt. They still work well.

here is my feelings on them I pick the 500 JIC because of the 18 inch barrel (less potential legal issues) I can add a regular stock and other Mossberg barrel to make it do everything from hunting to home defense if you even change the pistol grip on the shockwave you end up with a NFA gun

I would favor the Shockwave Carl. The ergonomic of the birds head grip is a sleeker profile (reminds me of a Mares Leg) and you can always buy the compatible pistol grip for a 2 n 1 as well. It is sturdier built in my opinion.

Wow the 2 are very close. Between these 2 I think i'd lean towards the 590.
