  • there are much better 1911 manufacturers. If you get a good one its nice but it the luck of the draw I own more RIA 1911s than any other sold all my springfields and Kimbers and replaced them with Rock Island armory ultra series guns

  • Hi Sterling, It really boils down to what you are looking to do. I own quite a few Kimbers and the Target is one. This is more an entry level range firearm. It's a great gun but there are so many others out there. Looking at the price I would highly recommend the Springfield 1911's over this one. Others recommend the Rock Islands but I am not sold on them for myself. So if you're looking for a range gun it's great but if you want a personal defense firearm I'd look at the Kimber Tactical or a Springfield.

  • No one who competes seriously uses Kimber products. Their customer support is poor and the products are marginal. I would go with Dan Wesson, SIG, Springfield Armory and Rock Island in that order.

  • Hi Sterling, I don't personally own a Kimber Target 9mm but have shot several. My personal experience is that the pistol could use some fitting work. Of the 4 that I have fired, one would lock the slide back only after every other magazine. It did this with the factory mag, 2 Mec-gar mags and a Wilson Combat mag. The other 3 pistols I recall did not have this issue. A friend of mine had to replace the extractor in his Target which was a huge improvement. One pistol ran flawless through 200rds of Fiocchi 230 FMJ. In short, it seems to be hit or miss with the Kimber Target. I can say that Kimber Customer Service was responsive according to my friend in getting his extractor replaced. In my experiences i ended up purchasing the Rock Island Armory "Big Rock" 10mm.
