BudsGunShop.com - Ruger GP100 vs Smith and Wesson 617

I’ve been saving up for a while and it’s finally time, Im ready to purhase my 10 shot .22 revolver! My only dilemma is if I should go with the Ruger GP100, 5.5” barrel, or Smith and Wesson 617, 4” or 6” barrel. Smith is around $80, so price really isn’t an issue. Hopefully someone on here can sway me one way or another! Thank you!

Zachary, these both are fine pistols. Your decision should be based on usage. I am guessing target, plinking and maybe small game. I would stick with the 5.5" or 6" barrel of the GP100 or 617. I own a 617 so I may come off as a little biased. It is accurate, reliable and a joy to shoot. I am sure the GP100 is also. Since they are similar, I would take a trip to a local dealer and handle both to see which feels best to you. There is no bad choice here, they are neck and neck.
