  • This ammo is listed on Bud's website under 22 WMR. I ordered 5 boxes but after I received them I find they are not 22 WMR but are 22 WRF. I want to know if these are safe to shoot in a Marlin bolt action 22 WMR? Thanks for the response I got on the other question I posted for these.

  • Hi Patrick, Yes they're fine for Bolt action just not revolvers.

  • Yes it is safe to shoot in a bolt action or revolver Patrick. The .22 Magnum (WMR) is based on a lengthened .22 WRF case. Revolvers and single shot rifles chambered for the .22 Mag. can shoot .22 WRF ammo without a problem. However, magazine fed .22 Magnum repeaters often will not feed the shorter .22 WRF cartridge correctly.
