  • Hi Russel, I bought a big boy in 45lc. Best decision ever. You can surpass the 44mag loads in 45lc. Tried em and liked em. But not before I talked to the freindly folks at Henry Repeating Arms. Super friendly and helpful too. The very first time I shot it, 1st rd, I hit a 12 oz can @100 yds. So much fun to shoot that thing, I love it. The only thing I don't care much for is the tube mag loading. Some would likely go for the 44 mag. Reason being is it seems most factory for the 45LC are lead bullets. That will cause some lead fouling you will eventually have to deal with. Most 44 mag loads will be the jacketed hollow point.

  • Russel, Overall, both .44 Magnum and .45 Long Colt are excellent cartridges. While .44 Magnum has better ballistics, .45 Long Colt is an absolutely iconic American cartridge. This is a very good read : dailyshooting.com/45-long-colt-vs-44-magnum/

  • I have both the 44 mag and the 45LC. the advantage of the 44mag/44special is that ammo is a lot easier to find. unless you are a reloader I recommend the 44mag/44 special as there is a wider variety of ammo available from light 44 special loads to high power 44 mag loads. If you are a reloader and work with it the 45 lc can really shine but the lack of different factory loads is the downfall
