Hi Adrian, there are several you tube videos but many folks claim snake oil. You have to decide for your self. I would say carry a proven ammunition HP like Hornady Critical Defense/Duty, Remington HTP, Gold Dot HP etc.

This ammo has some good reviews but is VERY pricey. If your gun is new I recommend breaking it in with a good 230 grn round nose or hardball round.(100 to 200 rds or so) Then check out a few defense hollow points, try more than one or two. Autos can be finicky about what you feed them sometimes. Find the load that works the best in your gun... lots of good choices out there.

There is no "best" bullet design. If there were there would only need to be one bullet. Many law enforcement departments select ammo based on proven reliability in there firearms as well as their work environment (actual self defense situations). The best ammo to chose for your self deference is the ammo that is reliable in your firearm and used by law enforcement.
