yes it is a very good revolver the recoil on it is not bad because it has enough weight. with lighter 44 mag and 44 special rounds it can be a joy to shoot some of the really heavy loads and become unpleasant This gun comes with factory muzzle break that should reduce muzzle flip and felt recoil. And you can always shoot the much lighter .44 Specials for practice.

The recoil from this Taurus model 44 is less than the recoil of a S&W model 29 but still more than a 357 magnum. The weight and ported barrel help to tame the recoil. The rubber grip is a little narrow so find an aftermarket grip that fits your hand to further reduce recoil.
Taurus metal framed revolvers are known for industry average quality. The most common issue I've seen is metal finish issues. If you feel the revolver should be in better condition when you receive it, refuse the transfer and call Buds, they'll take care of you.
Taurus polymer revolvers are more hit and miss.
If you are a seasoned handgun shooter the recoil won't bother you. If this is your first 44 you won't like it much unless you shoot 44 specials through it which kick much less and learn to handle the recoil. I've had good Taurus revolvers and bad ones. Their quality control has always been spotty.

Taurus 44 6.5" Ported 44mag Revolver
Yes. I’m a Taurus reviewer and tester and can say without a doubt that the model 44 is a fantastic revolver. I’ve tested the 6” barrel version and the though it is a large firearm it seats well in the hand and recoil is fairly controllable. Even shooting with one hand you will hit the mark with little training. I was actually impressed with the ease of trigger action and follow up shots. It’s a hand cannon and heavy which helps with recoil as well.
Every revolver I’ve tested from Taurus are excellent compared to Ruger and Smith an Wesson’s. The finish of the 44 isn’t the greatest and does not like moisture at all. I’ve seen a few obtain minor surface rust when exposed to high humidity or water.
Keep oiled and dry and it’ll keep you happy.
