Does anyone know if this is a pencil barrel, like the one bushmaster had on their polymer ARs?

Yes it is Alexis. This rifle has the 16"4150 Chrome Moly Lightweight (Pencil) Barrel with 1:8 Twist with AAC 51T Flash Hider.
