I recently spoke with someone from UTAS USA and they said, "Any UTS-15 that has a serial number above US12P13000 can support a vertical or angular grip." Since this is the latest version of the UTS15, will this support a vertical grip? Any way to check if the serial number is higher than the one listed by UTAS?

Buds should be able to check a serial number "which is on the box" to see if it is higher than what UTAS USA gave you. Buds won't give you a serial number but should be able to confirm a yes or no if higher or not at LiveChat (available from 9AM to 9PM 7 days a week), the "Blue Chat Button" at the bottom right of the page, or phoning at (859) 368-0371 (available 9AM to 9PM EST Monday through Friday).
