  • What is the difference between tenifer finish and black? And is tenifer scratch resistant?

  • Tenifer finish is not the outer finish it is the chemical finish (like a primer) applied to the metal then the final outer finish is applied to it Glock's traditional hardening process was a simple nitro carburizing process which is a QPQ metal treatment known as MELONITE, which has two other synonymous trade names: Tenifer and Tufftride.

  • Christopher, finishes are the same metal wise. The newer "Black" finishes are just a more flat black finish compared to the original Tennifer process' finish. And yes Tennifer is highly scratch resistant.
