  • I have ordered several firearms from Bud's and had them shipped to my local FFL. My question is as follows: Is it at all normal for the receiving FFL to inspect the weapon by doing a "function test" (cocking) the rifle? I ask this as when I walked into the shop to pick-up a recently ordered AR, one of the guys behind the counter was operating the charging handle on my gun. Just wondering. Thanks in advance.

  • I would say that all shops do somethin different My FFL opens the box and looks at the S/N and then when I get there we take it out and inspect it at the same time

  • Typically the gun shop attendant will ask you if you want to accept the transfer after YOU inspect the firearm.

  • Hi William. This is not normal. My FFL only open firearms with the perspective owner present. The inspection is up to you but some FF:'s may feel obligated. Different strokes for different folks I guess. If you trust your FFL then I would not worry about it.
