Both are from good reputable companies and I am sure you will be happy with either. Although, these are very different in their construction and intent of use. Aside from caliber, the CZ is polymer, double-stack and modern in design (albeit still hammer fired). The Ruger 1911 is all metal, based on a classic design, with same battery of arms as any 1911 type design, with a single stack magazine. I think you will be happy with either once you answer what the primary use will be.
The CZP09 nice, i own it in 9mm and enjoy shooting it, i also have a Ruger 1911 10mm and its bad to the bone! i would buy the 10mm and not think twice
The Ruger 1911's are great shooting guns for the price you can't beat them

I would buy the Ruger. I've had magazines that i was only suspicious of their magazines on parts. And Rugers Customer service sent me brand new magazines free, no charge. And they've sent me parts for a 6year old gun no charge. I never even spoke with them, just an email or two over a day or two and new stuff arrived for free. Ruger care for the customer like no other company I found.
