  • Christopher, this will vary due to projectile weight, velocity and pistol barrel length and weight. As a rule of thumb, expect the 44Mag to recoil 50% more. For a couple of fairly hot ( but within Hornady specification) loads, a 32 oz .357 revolver with 158 gr. @ 1250 fps. generates 11.78 ft/lbs recoil. A 48 oz. .44 mag with 240 gr. @ 1400 fps. generates 21.5 ft/lbs recoil.

  • much lighter than a 44Mag you can also shoot the less expensive 38 special rounds for even less recoil
