Can you safely shoot a 40 Cal in a 10mm carbine?
Randy, Manufacturers do not recommend shooting 40 S&W from 10mm firearms. I and friends that own 10mm semi-auto handguns (Glock 20) shoot 40 S&W with no problem at the range. In a carbine it would not be dangerous, just see how they feed and eject.
Randy, each firearm.chamber is different. For safety and warranty reasons I would always seek the blessings of the specific firearm manufacturer for their ammunition recommendation for any ammo their firearm is not barrel stamped for. Just my 2 cents.

no being a rimless case the 40 (and 10mm) headspaces on the lip of the case the 10 mm chamber is longer so the 40 S&W round would not headspace correctly and create a unsafe condition
