  • What is the recoil of the smaller framed .45 with a ported barrel compare too? I have one in 9mm, M&P 9 and 40 full size and would carry my 1911 C magnum research but its a boat anchor... a .45 is my caliber of choice.

  • I have not found much difference in a ported barrel (as far as recoil) it can help with muzzle rise. I would not want a ported barrel in a self defense situation because of the extra noise. I already have hearing damage and don't want any more I find my compact 45 has less noticeable recoil than my 40 compact (more push 45 than slap 40 )

  • Marc, a smaller framed 45 with a "Ported Barrel" will recoil just a touch more that a non ported 9mm and a touch less than a 40 which puts you where you need to be recoil wise. Just remember that a ported barrel is a "louder" barrel. With practice, you will be surprised what you can become used too. Cheers and Happy Holidays!

  • No difference in recoil on a subcompact ported barrel or non ported. Gas is traveling very short distance no matter what with subcompact/compact
