why is the m17 slide different at the end compared to the p320s flat slide

The difference is for military use. That simple. The military usually has their own specifications and want certain changes.

Ben, I would imagine it may have to do with a "Military" Specification. Sig should be able to answer conclusively at 603.610.3000 OPTION 1 - Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:30pm EST

Only sig would know why the designed it that way you could ask Sig at 603.610.3000 OPTION 1 - Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:30pm EST
