  • Which would you buy a North American ported 22mag mini revolver in 1.625" or one without the ported barrel 1.625 and why. Also has anybody purchased the NAA mini 22mag with the holster and if so is it functional.

  • The ports on the barrel are for reducing recoil by allowing the expanding gases to sort of thrust the end of the pistol downward. In the case of a 1.625 barrel a ported barrel may increase the already loud .22 magnum round. I have the Holster grip which makes it east to carry concealed in any pocket

  • which ever is the least expensive as the porting will not make any difference

  • I find the pistol difficult to operate, although I admit that didn't train on it for an extended period of time. It's very small which of course is also its main draw. The ported barrel is nice, but not necessary because it is both loud and has a pretty good muzzle flash as well.
All of this said when asked if the NAA pistol is very concealble. The answer is yes. Is it a high quality firearm? Again definitely. Does it pack a good punch for its size in 22wmr? Absolutely.
    Hope that helps you.

  • James, The ported barrel will reduce recoil but increase muzzle blast decibels a tad bit. It is a trad-off that I would be willing to tolerate. There is a more pronounced difference with the 22Magnum with ported barrel than the 22LR. The holster is well designed and functional.

  • A ported barrel on this pistol would make minimal to no difference. I would go with the non-ported model.
