Jason, this 1911 has 1). Extended Thumb Safety & 2). Oversized Beavertail Grip Safety.
Rear grip safety, and single sided, left, for right handers, thumb safety

Sir, 1911s have, first, a 'drop safety' to prevent the pistol from firing if dropped; Then there is the 'grip' safety that prevents the trigger being pulled unless the shooter has a firm grip on the firearm, then there is the 'thumb'; safety that locks the hammer and slide in place, preventing the pistol from being fired. And fourth, of course is the shooter's trigger finger - the most important safety of all. This particular 1911 does not have an ambidexterious thumb safety.
