I use the bulk 100 packs from wally world in my sr40
Like most modern firearms you should be fine with any "ball"(FMJ) ammo as an non-expensive option. Most people train with the same grain weight ammunition that they intend to carry, most of the time in a hollow point version. EX: Winchester White box 115gr FMJ would be a great option to train with.
Marty, I always recommend Speer LAWMAN as it is consistent, accurate and shoots clean(Although most Major brands would work). budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/716006600/speer+lawman+9mm+115gr+tmj+50rds

Ruger 3471 SR40 Standard 40 S&W 4.14" 10+1 15+1 Black Black Polymer Grip
Federal FMJ and WInchester FMJ 180gr , keep the gun lubed on the light side "not wet" and she will run fine.
Try not to run reloads my experince is they are not consistent and that particular gun doesnt like hot loads which can and does happen.
