Alice - If you're wanting a USA made shotgun for home protection, that's easy to operate, and a proven performer, I strongly suggest this one - the Remington 870 pump 20 gauge with 18.5 inch barrel, and extended magazine. The Maverick 88 is made largely of parts produced in Mexico and other foreign countries, and assembled in the US - it is not "USA made".
