Nickolas - just as the title says, it is a .223/5.56. The actual chambering is 5.56 NATO. As ,.223 is a slightly lesser-powered version (for all intents and purposes, the same dimensions) one can shoot .223 in ANY firearm chambered for 5.56. These rifles are some nice rifles, Nicholas. Check out the reviews - you'll find many very good ones. The endorsement of "Gunsite" - a fine firearms training academy - did not come easy, I'm sure.
yes it is a 5.56 and can fire .223 If you like this rifle it is no longer in production and when the sell out they will be gone "Ruger developed this rifle in association with Gunsite, and it is "Gunsite Approved". This bolt action scout rifle is compact and fast handling. It features a medium contour cold hammer forged barrel with threaded muzzle, adjustable ghost ring rear sight, and a forward mounted Picatinny rail to allow the mounting of modern optics such as an intermediate eye relief scope for "both eyes open" shooting and fast target acquisition.
