Timothy, the average lifespan of this barrel for practical accuracy will be approximately 7 to 8 thousand rounds. A non heavy barrel will have more harmonics or barrel whip and wear sooner. Timothy, Championship target shooters change barrels every couple thousand rounds or sooner. This barrel will last 10s of thousands of rounds or more before it would loose practical accuracy. You will not shoot it out. Depends on ammunition you use of course. As far as comparison with steel barrel: lighter, more expensive, more fragile, will probably last your lifetime unless you fire thousands of rounds through it per week.
