So im slightly concerned about my newest purchase, it looks beautiful. But im not sure its what i wanted, I was under the impressions i bought the Springfeild 1911 milspec, "on the slide says 1911 A1 mil spec. The handgun I got is almost the same one, but it only says Mil-spec. IT has a NM right before the serial number. TBH it looks like the Defenders series model. but it came with a hard case. What gun did i buy im truely upset and wish the description was more clear.

Michael, I think you should be very happy. Here is a response I got from SA.----------
Springfield uses the prefixes of "N" and "NM" to designate 1911-A1 type pistols, just as we used "AM" as the prefix for the P9 series of pistols. The only pistols which use the national match frames are the complete custom pistols built through our custom shop. These pistols have "Springfield Custom" etched on the slide, and will have the "NM" prefix to the serial number. If "NM" prefix and no "Springfield Custom" etching designates all assembled in Geneseo, IL.

If it does have Custom Shop etching look on inside of slide and last 3 digits of serial number is hand etched on inside top of slide.
