Hello. I am interested buying a Rem 700 SPS Varmint in .308 with 1:12 twist and 26" heavy barrel. Does the rifle have free float barrel. Can I start out using the standard 150 surplus ammo for practice match shooting? Also what is the best bullet weight for this rifle if I get serious in match shooting down the road

Peter, this rifle does have a "Free Floated" Barrel. Standard Surplus will do in a pinch but, there are better low cost practice ammunition such as Legend Basic.
