  • I am new to Sig Sauer Guns, looking for a good quality gun with all the features this gun has. Is someone like me (new, but does own a Glock & a Springfield) going to regret not spending the $1,200.00 on a Legion Model or gamble on this gun, hoping it’s a real work horse and can take beating and still keeps going? Bottom line, I hope Sig Sauer isn’t a “get what you pay for type company.” But they instead takes pride in everything they produce!
Also, is there a better model that fits my needs?

    A Brief History
The 2022 started out life as the P2340 in 1999. At the time, Glock's polymer framed striker-fired pistols were cutting into Sig's share in the military and law enforcement world. Polymer guns were still tough, but lighter-weight and cheaper to produce. Sig's answer was a 40 caliber pistol targeting law enforcement, using a polymer frame while retaining the aforementioned familiar operation of their older, trusted platforms. This was a conservative design but one that landed in time, as the French were looking for a new police pistol. The 2022 won the contract in 2002, the largest pistol contract since the end of World War II. 400,000 units were ordered with an expected service life of twenty years and replacement, hence the name 2022. Some military and law enforcement adoptions followed, but since then the 2022 has played a very underrated role, not just in Sig's line up, but in the rise of budget-oriented fighting pistols.

  • Todd, This is not anything like any of the 'Legion" line of Sigs. Popular polymer 'starter Sig'. It is a quality firearm, but all firearm manufactures including Sig are “get what you pay for type company.” Sig is trying to get in on polymer framed Glock G19 size carry market. Also the large French LE market in 2002. See above for background on P2022.

  • The best advice I can give you is to find a local gun shop/gun range and rent one. Try it out and see if it meets your needs. Almost any major manufacturer will give you decent longevity and reliability, it comes down to individual "taste".
