  • Joshua, The NIBx coating is a nitride treatment. It is an Electroless Nickel/ Boron Nitride which provides lubrication throughout its matrix. Regarding warranty support, a Glock District Manager described the arrangement in an email to me in 2012 with this explanation:
"We do not apply those finishes at our factory, annually we have an agreement for a limited number of new guns that are sold from the factory to a company with the knowledge they will have this finish applied and then they are sold as special packages at certain large distributor shows. We support the application, however we do not apply them if that makes sense. They are new guns with the full warranty, just not applied by Glock."

  • Joshua, no Sir. The NIBx is used instead of Nitride Treating. This new Glock 22 Gen 4 in 40S&W has the nickel boron finish(NiBX) "NIB ONE", that adds a lifetime warranty against flaking ,chipping and wear. It offers extreme resistance to rust and pitting and has better lubricity for smoother action and extreme reliability in all environments.
