I have an opportunity to pick up this rifle brand new for $600.00. the thing is the handguard has been damaged significantly. If I get this rifle, I was under the impression to switch the free float handguard that some have their proprietary nuts, and others us that factory installed GI nut. Does anybody know what steps I have to take to swap out the handguard without having to spend the 400 buck discount on sending it back to bushmaster for replacement? I'd like to do it myself if possible.
