  • Yes, you can definitely take off the picatinny rail and attach your own rail. If you do that I would recommend EGW rails because they make excellent products. I'm not sure if Ruger uses their own rail or another company's rail. Well, the rail comes with #8-40 screws. I'm not exactly sure if you would need different type of screws if you get a different type of rail. It was my pleasure to assist you.
