I saw the video you were talking about but that guy was using a 357 mag rifle and I'll be using a Ruger GP100 with a 6 inch barrel

Its still fine. I imagine you won't be doing any long range hunting with that BlackHawk anyway. You will destroy a deer within 50yards with it. And even at 75+yards I'd take the shot.

I know this is for Jason T but the 6inch is plenty. Deer are thin skinned animals with relatively shallow vitals. You should have no issues if you do your part with good shot placement.
