  • How does it compare to top rifles like Remington 700 or Winchester 70s? Im 61. Accuracy, safety, reliability, weight, etc.

  • Scott, It would compare favorably. As reliable as a bolt gun can be. As accurate as an off the shelf .308 bolt rifle can be. You can get the adjustable LBA trigger. 2 position safety so you can still run bolt with safety on. Great crowned barrel. Fluted bolt. Walnut Stock Model at 7lbs. That is pretty light. I have a Savage bolt at over 9 lbs. The 700 is 8.5 lbs. Action may not be as smooth as the 700. Not as expensive as the 70. Not everybody's first choice. I'm 64 and got the synthetic stock youth model Patriot in .308 with 20" barrel and love mine. And what a value.

  • Scott, the actions on the Remy 700's and Winchester 70's are more refined but the Mossberg Patriot is not bad. Accuracy will not be at the same level as the others due to barrel & action design but you should be right at 1MOA with the right load, unless you are Bob Lee Swagger of course. This is plenty accurate for target and hunting needs. The others are under MOA rifles with the right loads all day long.
