  • Taurus66ss6 350 mag. What’s the difference in the 2”, 4”, and 6” barrels as far as the recoil and handling goes.

  • Hey man. I’ll just speak from my experience with different barrel revolvers. I say the 2 inch and 4 inch are good for conceal carry. The 2 inch is likely to have more felt recoil because it’s lighter and has a short barrel. The 4 inch to me man is always more balanced in my hands. It’s also accurate and has a closer velocity of a 6 inch. I feel the 4 inch is a really good compromise between it and 6 inch or even 8 inch barrel. 6 inches should have less felt recoil. Though hunting with a 6 inch or larger is ideal to me a 4 inch can also be suitable for that. It just depends on what purpose you plan on using the gun. If you just hit up the range then any would be good unless you have a preference my man. Have a good one man.

  • William, the 4 inch will be the better balanced gun. The 2 inch will be lighter and therefore produce more felt recoil with the same loads. The shorter 2 inch will also have a larger muzzle blast due to unburnt powder since a 4 inch or longer barrel yield a more complete powder burn. Also expect an average 120 to 140fps velocity increase as barrel length go up. Each has it's purpose so just pick the length that suits your needs best. Cheers. The 6 inch will be heaviest and lightest felt recoiling but, will give the highest velocity for further out shooting or hunting..
