  • all you need is your KY license You will fill out the forms then wait for the NICS check to be done It could be quick or it could take days you will then get a approval or disapproval

  • In order to have a successful first transaction you will need more than just a license. I would offer that you need to utilize this opportunity to understand everything that is required to legally own the firearm. The forms that you will fill out are legal documents that I would encourage you to read and understand in full.
Before going you will need to verify you can legally own the firearm in KY. I know that may seem obvious, but I would encourage you to research the laws and verify. Just because you bought it online, does not mean you will pass the background investigation to own the firearm.
Once that has occurred and you made the initial verification you meet the requirements, you will need your license and potentially a second form of identification (take both). Once your credentials are verified and you have passed the back ground check, which may take an unusually long time due to the influx of requests just recently, you will need to pay the transfer fee and potentially for the firearm.
In terms of what is needed, that is really it. However, that does not begin to cover your responsibilities regarding the firearm. I would encourage you to take a gun safety course. The NRA offers many in-depth courses aimed at first time gun owners or the "seasoned veteran". I would also encourage you to consider some type of locking device to secure your firearm; either a safe or lock. Lastly, stay safe and enjoy learning and mastering your firearm of choice. Good luck.

  • Timothy, just your license will do but, would have at least 2 forms of ID Sir. The process is pretty painless. Enjoy your new purchase and stay safe!

  • just need your license, you fill out a form, they call in the NICS background check and your done. keep in mind with the higher volume of NICS check right now it could take a lil extra time and you could be delayed for a few days, it no big deal just be patient
