John, for indoor home protection I recommend a low recoil #4 or 00 Buck Shot load : They pattern tighter than the high velocity stuff. With that said, reduced recoil loads are hard to find at this time so the best that Buds has for home defense is : budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/411559297/rio+royal+buck+%234+buck+12ga+27+pellet+5+pack+2+3%2f4 or budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/411559296/rio+royal+buck+%234+buck+12ga+21+pellet+5+pack+2+3%2f4 ----------------- I highly recommend practicing with what you will be potentially defending your life with. This is the only way to know point of aim and pattern characteristics. Cheers and stay safe!
