I don't own a shotgun, I feel I'm way more accurate and capable of defending myself with my AR15, especially from gangs of looters, with the higher rate of fire, way higher magazine capacity, increased range, and accuracy i don't think there's a better weapon available for home deffense then an AR15.
Some will say "but overpenatration, your responsible for every round you fire" this is true, but the idea that a shotgun won't overpenatrate is ridiculous. With an AR you are putting the round exactly where you want it, and not just pulling the trigger and hoping the spread on pattern doesn't hit somewhere you don't want it too. Plus there are some really good home deffense loads for the AR (soft tip and hollow point both) that reduce the risk of overpenatration and can stop a threat very quickly "Federal LE Tactical 223 Rem 55 Grain SP", "Speer Gold Dot 223 Rem 55 Grain Gold Dot Soft Point" and "Federal Premium Barnes TSX, .223 Remington, Triple-Shock X HP, 55 grain" are all amazing self deffense rounds. Get an AR get training, proper set up ( light, sling, muzzle device) and proper home deffense ammo, and an AR will serve you far better then a shotgun, dont take the Biden approach to self deffense be ready for anything.
