I have a brand new 308 from CA i purchased 5 years ago and have never shot. I would like to start shooting it one of these days but need to know what best practice rounds i should get and best personal defense rounds as well. i live in California so what is the best source to purchase from? THANKS!!!

At this point in time any 308 ammo is good. I hope you are not planning to shoot in the house. Frangible rounds would be best for "personal defense" to keep over penetration to a minimum.
