Do I need to contact the FFL dealer (in green) to assure transfer?

Sandra, although it says you don't have to contact preferred dealers ahead of time, I would recommend that you do. You want to make sure the FFL is still doing transfers and if there will be any abnormal wait times. FFL's are unusually busy in these unprecedented times, and some do not have full time hours.
Yes, proffered dealers (in green) just means buds has a copy of their ffl on file, but it is always possible that they are closed due to pandemic restrictions, or they could have gone out of buissnes or maybe their not doing any transfers from online retailers because their super busy, I always call prior to an item being delivered. Even if I've used that ffl before.
You can always order the item now ( so it doesn't sell out while your contactinformation your chosen ffl), then if the ffl says they're not doing transfers you can contact buds and change the ffl as long as the item hasn't shipped
I would recommend you to do that. Let the FFL knows about your purchase or transfers so that they send their FFL information to Buds. I hope this helps!

Sandra, no but, I do it out of courtesy to keep the FFL in the loop to be on the lookout for package expectation. All Green FFL's will contact you automatically upon receipt so it is not necessary but a good idea. Cheers and stay safe!
