  • I have the Charles Daly Honcho Pump Spring-Assisted .410. I am a brand new firearm owner so please be patient and kind. Thank you. My question stems from my desire to purchase .410 000 2 1/2 buckshot for home defense. When I added it to my cart the reccomendation was a 12 gauge 2 1/2 which is much cheaper! Are the .410 2 1/2 the same diameter as 12 gauge 2 1/2? I dont necessarily want the cheapest if it wont protect me with a home invasion. I kind of understand what is in each .

  • Teresa, no, the pellet diameter (buck shot) is the exact same but, 12ga and 410ga are two entirely different rounds as pictured here : http://eatonrapidsjoe.blogspot.com/2015/12/why-love-for-410.html --------- Get only .410

  • I would tread carefully with the "recommended" items, I believe they are mostly based on what others purchased at the same time as whatever items you have in cart rather than actual compatibility. 12 gauge is a larger diameter shell that will not work in a .410. 12 gauge is equivalent to about 0.73 inches in diameter while .410 is appropriately named for its 0.410 inch diameter.
