its a fiber sight it just collects the available light and focuses it in the rod in the front sight

It's a fiber optic sight and is high visibility in situations where light is present, but will not light up when there is no light.
It doesn't project a dot, it works like a standard front iron sight

No batteries required. This is not a laser it's a fiber optic sight. Wich uses light to make it more easily visible. Hope this helps.
