  • it seems to me 12 GA shotguns that are no semi-auto kick alot.i am worried that using a scope might damage my eye area for the recoil. how do i manage that risk or is it even anything to worry about? i have used scopes on high power rifles and 20 GA but they were semi-automatic that reduced the recoil.

  • Use a low mounted scope and keep your cheek on the stock. That way the gun and your head will both move during recoil. You get in trouble when the scope is too high, you keep your head high to see through the scope and your cheek is unsupported and your neck lets your head whip forward into the scope during recoil.
