  • Muhammad, Texas is a pretty good state for gun owners. No state license is required to possess a rifle, shotgun or handgun, you do need a permit for concealed carry, however. Just about everything is legal, and there is no limit to the amount of rounds your firearm can hold. See Texas gun laws here >>> texasgunlaws.org/ .....Have a great day!

  • Muhammad, in Texas, no license required to own any firearm except you must register NFA firearms and accessories such as silencers, short barreled rifles and automatic firearms and pay a $200 Tax Stamp. Other than NFA items, you are good to go in Texas. Cheers and stay safe!

  • Texas. And paste excerpts from a long post about Texas carry laws.
"There are places you cannot carry here without a permit. Oregon *used* to be better than Texas in some ways - here, businesses that post the proper signage can legally exclude you from carry. Not like Oregon where you could ignore any such signs, and only would you be committing a criminal act if you were told to leave and didn't. Its a crime here to walk past such signage - funnily enough covered by penal codes 30.05 (permitless) 30.06 (concealed with permit) and 30.07 (open carry with permit) BuuuuuuuuT to completely exclude carry - a business MUST post all three signs. If they only post 30.06 - you can go permitless or carry open. If they post 30.05 - they only prohibit permitless carriers, those with a permit are still good to go. If only 30.07 is posted, no open carry allowed under permit, but you can technically still go permitless because no 30.05 sign.
There are other places explicitly called out in the text of the law that permit holders can carry that permitless cannot. NO campus carry without a permit, for example.
The biggest benefit for most though - if you have your "License to Carry" or LTC as they call it here, there is no NICS checks done - your LTC *is* your check. So as long as your LTC is valid, just fill out the 4473, give them the money, and you walk out the door with your new toy."

  • The others are partially correct, you can own ANY firearm that's not prohibited by federal law. No license is required. There is also no license required to carry concealed in most places,
I've got a buddy in Houston he just wrote up a long post on a forum of the pros and cons of having an LTC in texas.
Silencers that were manufactured in Texas do not require a tax stamp or registration with the ATF.

  • You can even own fully automatic firearms and suppressors but you would have to pay a $200 tax stamp and fill out a bunch of paperwork threw the atf.

  • You live in one of the best states to own firearms in. You don't need a license to purchase a firearm, only license you would need is if you plan to conceal carry a firearm then you would need a concealed carry permit. As for firearms you can pretty much own anything you want. Hope this helps.
