Is the barrel stamped 556 or 223?

The barrel is stamped 5.56, so you can safely shoot both 223 or 5.56 threw this. Hope this helps.

Henry, This rifle has a .5.56 NATO Stamped 18.5" Cold hammer forged Chrome-Moly Vanadium Chrome lined barrel with a Right hand, 6 groove, 1:7" twist rifling. (5.56mm NATO (accepts .223 Remington)) Cheers and stay safe!
