I'm a fan of STI pistols. They have been in business supplying pistols to law enforcement and competitors for years. The competition market really wrings out a design and engineering in severe conditions and STI is one of the top names in USPSA/IPSC. Check out the new Costa Carry Comp they are building. STI pistols are sought after and keep their value too.
Ryan - That is something only you can decide. Nighthawks are very well made, reliable, pistols, and get a lot of attention and hand fitting a 'production' gun doesn't get. They seem to hold their value well. Whether or not they're worth the money however is something only you can decide, since it is your money, and would be your pistol. It depends on whether you want a 'regular' pistol, with a 'regular' price, or you want a 'special' pistol and want it enough to pay the asking price. It's a highly personal decision, much like deciding whether you want a 'regular' car, or something nicer and more expensive. Good luck in your decision.

Value is in the eye (hand?) of the beholder. I have never own a Nighthawk but I did get to check one out a gun show just yesterday. I have a new Ruger SR1911 that has a pretty good trigger right out of the box and a thirty year old Kimber with really well broken in trigger that I thought was pretty good. Then the owner of the NH let me handle and dry fire his $3800.00 pistol. I've own several 1911s over the last 40 years and shot others that have had trigger jobs. None compared to the trigger pull of this Nighthawk. Only my James Clark Sr. tuned Ruger Mk II Bullseye gun comes close. And we call it the Magic Wand. Is the NH worth the money? All I can say is I want one.....I want one bad. I'm starting to save up for mine now!
