  • I have a Glock 43 (just in black instead of Purple). It, as with all Glock models, do not have a manual safety. It does have a trigger safety (a small trigger within the trigger) that must be pulled with the trigger to release the striker and fire a round. It also has a trigger block that prevents the gun from accidently discharging if its dropped. Overall the G43 is a nice concealed carry gun that is quite accurate and there are a lot of aftermarket accessories for it. If you are dead set on a small 9mm with a manual safety that is more or less comparable to the G43 look at the S&W Shield or S&W Shield Performance Center models. I have the latter and it has a much better trigger than the G43 and is quite comfortable to shoot.

  • This is a "Striker" fired pistol and does not have a traditional safety. I would find a comparable firearm that has a manual safety if that is what you seek or need. What ever you are most comfortable with will ultimately be the most effective for you. This would be preferable as a pistol without "one in the chamber" is considered a cold pistol and would put you at a disadvantage in an urgent high stress scenario.

  • If you don’t feel comfortable carrying a gun without a safety you can leave the chamber empty. As long as the trigger guard is covered where something can’t get in there and pull the trigger it can not fire. Glocks are actually pretty safe. You can beat it against the ground and as long as the trigger isn’t pulled it won’t fire. Don’t let the lack of a safety discourage you from selecting a dependable firearm.

  • Only the Glock trigger safeties The Glock® pistol has a combination of three automatic safety features (trigger safety, firing pin safety and drop safety), which are sequentially disengaged when the trigger is pulled.
