Does this muzzle need to be timed?
Christopher, absolutely not due to symmetrical design. Cheers and stay safe!
Christopher, no, this doesn't need timed. It does have writing on it but doesn't really matter what direction it's In. I have this on a 10.5 inch barrel AR-15 pistol and it helped alot with pushing gases and sound forward. Would definitely recommend. Hope this helps.

Troy Ind SBRACLM05BT00 Claymore Muzzle Brake Black Steel with 1/2"-28 tpi Threads & 2.25" OAL for 5.56x45mm NATO AR-Platform
No, there are no vents on this, so it can be timed in any direction without any issues. A crush washer will allow you to tighten it to whatever desired index that you like. The Troy is fairly straightforward to install. The directions suggest mounting the Troy logo at the 12 o’clock position but I tried it in different positions and noticed no difference in performance. I hope this helps!
