  • Hello,
I recently purchased a Tristar Setter ST 20ga (over under) and after assembly I noticed that the safety is VERY tight. I can’t move it with my thumb, I have to set the gun on its stock and press hard to get it to move. It feels like metal on metal, not smooth.
Any suggestions how to loosen it up? It’s for my 15 yr old. If it were mine I wouldn’t care, but he’s smaller and needs a safety to work.
    Thanks

  • Kenny, sometimes safeties can be tight but shouldn't be that tight. I'd try cleaning it and oiling the safety the best you can. After that work the safety and usually they'll get loose. You might have to work the safety a couple hundred times though if it's really tight. If that doesn't work I'd recommend taking it to a gunsmith near you or contacting the manufacturer for warranty work. You can contact the manufacturer at (816) 421-1400. Hope this helps and good luck.

  • Kenny, I would first try a synthetic gun oil and let it sit for a while and periodically work the safety to see if it loosens a bit. ------- For warranty and safety reasons I would contact TriStar Customer Service at (816) 421-1400 or by online inquiry for advice : - tristararms.com/connect/
