Nicholas, this is not normal, I have way more than 300rds through mine. I would contact S&W to see if they will remedy this for you. Nicholas, no, doesn't sound normal. Sounds like the finish wasn't done properly. I'd recommend contacting smith and Wesson at 1-800-331-0852
