  • I recently received the TriStar Raptor, I used it with a cartridge for clay shooting and it did not load automatically. I tried 00 and it worked. Question: Is it normal for this to happen or is it a malfunction. Thanks for your help.

  • Jose, this is normal for a new shotgun. You may need to break it in with up to 250 rounds of high velocity shells before it will relaibly cycle lower power loads. Have a great day!

  • Jose, this is normal for new semi automatic shotguns. Most manufacturers recommend a break in period of 100+ rounds. Lighter loads like bird shot might not properly cycle the bolt all the way back causing jams. For new semi automatic shotguns I'd recommend high velocity loads for the first 100 rounds, after that give it a good cleaning/lube and it should cycle lighter loads like clay shot, bird shot just fine. Hope this helps and you're very welcome.

  • Jose, this is normal Sir. It is highly recommended to "Break it in" with full power loads for at least 50 to 75 rounds, clean and lube and then try the lower powered rounds. Cheers and stay safe!
