I live in Connecticut. So my question is, can I buy a gun for someone else who has a permit?

Nicholas, depends, if you mean can someone give you money to purchase a firearm for them no. That's called a straw purchase and very illegal. If you mean as a gift, so you purchase it and give it to someone yes you can. Sounds weird but that's laws for you. As others have stated if it's as a gift the easiest way is to just purchase a gift card and have them buy it. If you don't want to purchase a gift card and want to buy the actual firearm to gift it I'd recommend contacting your local FFL dealer/gunshop since they will have the most up to date laws in your area. Hope this helps.
Straw purchases are a common way for felons, gang members and criminals to get guns. However, there are exceptions to what constitutes a straw purchase. For instance, you can legally buy a gun with the intent to gift it to a non prohibited person. That isn’t a straw purchase.
Straw Purchase is the first thing that came to mind as mentioned below. I'm pretty positive that with all the Stricter Gun Laws in place this would be a no no. I mean, you can check with your local Gunshop for a more definitive answer on this.
as far as federal law yes you can buy a gun as a GIFT for another person as long as you have no reason to believe that they are prohibited from owning said gun. I wild check with you local FFL to see what restrictions Connecticut has about gifting a gun. To avoid red flags remember YOU are the purchaser and after the purchase (paperwork complete) you will then be gifting the gun to another https://rocketffl.com/firearms-as-gifts/
Nicholas, no Sir. It would be best to purchase a Buds Gift Card in the total amount of the purchase and have the person purchase it in their own name so they would be the registered owner and not you. This avoids Federal Red Flag of a "Straw Purchase". Cheers and stay safe! budsgunshop.com/search.php/type/buds+gift+cards

Nicholas, no, buying a gun for another person is a straw purchase, whether or not that person has a permit. If you are talking about a gift, that is another story and too complicated to answer fully here. Your best bet is to just give the person the cash or a gift card and let said person make the purchase. Have a great day!
