I notice Ruger calls it an AR556 instead of AR15. Are the parts making up this rifle standard to AR15s or are the Ruger proprietary?

Roger, this is a standard AR15 and will take standard parts, nothing is proprietary. AR556 is just the name for this series of rifles, and it does come in other calibers besides 5.56.
Stray safe & have a great day!
Hi Roger and welcome. They are standard AR parts. This is just a naming convention by Ruger. Cheers and stay safe!
