  • I have a gopher problem! So I was looking at some cheap .410 single shot shotguns. I'm not familiar with this "action bar safety". How does it work? Do you need to shoot differently? I don't understand the "hold the trigger rearward" before it will fire. Can someone explain it better than the brief description on the Buds site. Thanks..................... Scott

  • The Action or Transfer Bar safety is also used in revolvers and some exposed hammer rifles, but works the opposite way from a hammer block. The transfer bar has the spur that would otherwise be on the hammer, or encloses a firing pin similar to auto loading designs. The hammer itself cannot contact a loaded cartridge, but must instead strike the transfer bar, which then contacts the cartridge primer with the spur or pin. The transfer bar is normally positioned out of line with the hammer's travel, but is moved into place by the normal action of the trigger, providing similar "drop safety" to a firing pin block.

  • There is not an action-bar safety on item 23999. It has a firing-pin block. Hatfield Gun Co. says it was probably a typo in the original description. The listing has been corrected.
